No doubt, you have noticed that there is a lot going on here at Gesu! In case you have missed it, here is an update of “who’s who” and “who’s where”:
Our assistant music director, Carolyn Pelley, will be leaving us at the end of July. Besides getting ready for a wedding in October, Carolyn will be continuing her classes in music education and doing her student teaching. She credits her experience here at Gesu as a significant factor in choosing to pursue the field of music education. She will be missed for her joyful energy and spirit, especially at the 12:00 pm Mass!
Mark Ehrbar will be joining our parish staff after Labor Day in September to serve as the Co-Director of Music here at Gesu. You may remember him from the 12:00 pm Mass a few years back. Good things to come!
Father Jim Shea, S.J. has been here since his Ordination in June and has been a wonderful presence already! He will return to studies in Boston near the end of August. We thank him and support him with our special thoughts and prayers.
Father Jim Von Tobel, S.J., the pastor of Gesu from 2000-2006, will be returning on August 9 to serve as interim pastor until a new pastor is named in the Spring. Welcome back, Father!
Father Thomas Chillikulam, S.J. will be joining our parish staff at the end of July. He is coming from India and is really looking forward to his ministry here at Gesu. Welcome, Father! We hear many great things about him already.
And last, but not least, Father Mark George, S.J. will be leaving Gesu near the end of August to his new ministry in Beirut, Lebanon. Please join us on Sunday, August 16 at the 12:00 pm Mass with a reception following to thank Fr. George for his service to this parish. He will celebrate this special Mass in the Maronite tradition.
