Year End Giving
Gesu Parish is very grateful to all those that support our Church and School throughout the calendar year. At this time of year, many people consider making special charitable gifts as they can have a positive impact on your income tax filings for the year. Gesu will accept donations made by December 31, 2016 and they would be tax deductible for the 2016 year. According to IRS rules, to ensure the deductibility of your Church contribution for your 2016 tax return, Gesu must be in possession of your gift by December 31, 2016. Mailed envelopes must be postmarked by December 31, 2016.

Make a Gift to Gesu through an IRA Distribution
You can make a one-time gift to Gesu by taking advantage of the extension granted by Congress through December 31, 2016. Individuals who are age 70-1/2 or older can make a tax-free gift to qualified charitable organizations, like Gesu, using funds transferred directly from their IRAs. You can transfer any amount up to $100,000 through the end of 2016 and not incur any income taxes on the distribution.

Your Benefits
– If you don’t need the amount you’re required to take annually from your IRA, you can eliminate the income tax on the distribution.
– The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you may benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions.
– Your support will make an impact on the Gesu parish community
